Fiona Booth HeadshotCan you tell us a little bit about yourself and your history?

I grew up in Nottingham, studied law at the University of Liverpool and moved to London straight after graduation. After a brief stint as a Media Planner at Ad Agency, Leo Burnett, I decided that the law was my true calling after all! following a fantastic year travelling in Asia, I settled down again, this time to life as a lawyer. I practised as an Employment lawyer for around 10 years before moving in the direction of knowledge management at Magic Circle firms. It was there I developed a keen interest in driving efficiency and change in the way law was ‘done’, a passion which ultimately fuelled my jump from Lawyer to Product Manager in a legal tech startup.

Why did you join ThoughtRiver?

I love what ThoughtRiver are doing! In particular, the strength of its AI capability impressed me enormously, and excited me as a product person and as a lawyer! There is so much scope to build fantastic features with the capability we already have.  Another big pull for me was Lauren Oldham….my boss!! Not long out of my career as a lawyer, I was looking for someone I could work with closely and learn from. Lauren inspires and teaches me every day!!

What are you most looking forward to working on at ThoughtRiver?

We already have such a great product, but I look forward to talking to our users, understanding their needs and being part of a talented team of people taking ThoughtRiver to the next level.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I don’t get much spare time!! My husband and I have 7 year old twin boys, so I seem to spend a lot of time washing and tidying!!!!! I love spending time with my family, out on the bikes in the lovely Surrey Hills that we’ve recently moved to, or in our wet suits paddle boarding, or just finding a great country pub and having an apple juice!!
